(Bristol, VA) The University of Virginia Health System’s new mobile mammography coach will provide screening mammograms for women age 40 and older who haven’t had a mammogram in the last 12 months at the Twin City Medical Center, 2195 Euclid Avenue, Bristol, Virginia, on May 17, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Appointments are required and can be made by calling (434) 243-4704. Women must have a current, active relationship with a physician to make an appointment. UVA will bill patients’ insurance. Programs exist to cover the cost of exams for women with no health insurance. Please ask about these programs when you scheduled your appointment.
Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women in the United States other than skin cancer. Early detection is key to treatment of breast cancer and a screen mammogram is an important element in early detection. UVA’s Breast Care Program has a dedicated team of breast care specialists, including technicians, radiologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, genetic counselors and surgeons.
