Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems Welcome New Dental Director

Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems (SVCHS) welcomes Tonya Parris-Wilkins, DDS to the Southwest Virginia Regional Dental Center to serve as the Dental Director.

Dr. Parris-Wilkins comes to SCVHS with a vast background of dental experience to share with the patients. She attended dental school at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va., where she graduated in 2003, then she completed her general practice residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2005. She has served as an assistant professor at Virginia Commonwealth University, as Dental Director for Central Virginia Health Services, and has had her own private practice. Currently, she serves as a President of the Virginia Board of Dentistry.

“I knew I wanted to be a health professional. I interviewed providers in different fields and thought dentistry matched my personal and professional goals best,” Parris-Wilkins said.

She is married with three children and has a passion for quilting in her spare time.

“I enjoy service work, regardless if it is in church, the surrounding community, or in the practice of dentistry,” Parris-Wilkins said.

Medical Director at SVCHS, Kristin Bresowar, MD, said, “We are thrilled to have Dr. Parris-Wilkins join our team and take over leadership of our dental program. She has extensive experience both with federally qualified health centers like ours and in private practice. She will be able to help us continue to expand dental services and the quality of care we are able to provide to patients of our dental program.”

Appointments are available with Dr. Parris-Wilkins. For an appointment, please call 276-496-4492.
