Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems (SVCHS) have partnered up with the Saltville-Rich Valley Lions Club and Saltville Public Library to raise awareness about diabetes during the month of November.
November 14, 2019 is World Diabetes Day. Employees from SVCHS and members of the Saltville-Rich Valley Lions Club will be set up at the Saltville Public Library from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. performing blood sugar checks, blood pressure checks, foot exams, and information regarding Open Enrollment/Medicaid Expansion. The first 12 people to get checked will receive a free t-shirt. The event is free and no appointment is necessary.
SVCHS will also be hosting a Wear Blue Day on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at all of their sites. Patients are encouraged to wear blue for diabetes awareness.
Each SVCHS site will be collecting used eyeglasses during this month, as well. The eyeglasses will be given to the Saltville-Rich Valley Lions Club to be donated to needy people.
