The 2nd annual Feria de la Salud served 34 patients during the event on Sunday, October 20, 2019.
This annual festival is hosted by Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems in partnership with Grayson County Health Department, Grayson County Career and Tech, Mount Rogers Behavioral Health, Farmworker Justice, and various volunteers and is geared toward the Hispanic and Latino population within the area and to unite the community.
This year’s numbers were up from the previous event held in the fall of 2018.
Sarah Agron, Migrant Health Network’s Coordinator, said, “We more than doubled our patients from last year, so it was a success.”
Multiple appointments were scheduled for follow up visits with Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems.
Alongside medical and dental exams, the health fair also has music, dance, games and activities for children, light refreshments, raffles and prizes, and information regarding local community resources. Agron said, “It was a fun and hopefully beneficial day for the attendees. This event is something we can look forward to next year.”
