Dentist (Tazewell)

Job Summary
Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems (SVCHS) is seeking a skilled and compassionate Dentist to join our dental practice in Tazewell, VA . SVCHS is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) dedicated to providing Southern West Virginia, Southwest Virginia, and Northeast Tennessee with top-quality whole-person care, regardless of ability to pay. The ideal candidate for this position will provide high-quality dental care to patients of all ages, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction throughout their treatment. This role requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a dedicated team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive oral examinations and diagnose dental conditions.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients.
• Perform a variety of dental procedures, including fillings, extractions, crowns, and root canals.
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and preventive care.
• Collaborate with dental hygienists and assistants to ensure efficient patient care.
• Stay updated on advancements in dentistry and participate in continuing education opportunities.
• Adhere to aseptic techniques and maintain a clean, safe environment in the dental office.

Experience

• Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree from an accredited institution.
• Proficiency in dental terminology and familiarity with medical records management systems such as eCW.
• Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry is essential.
• Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients and staff.

Substance Abuse Counselor (Saltville, VA)

Overview
Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our Saltville team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in behavioral health and mental health counseling, with a focus on supporting individuals struggling with substance abuse issues. This role involves providing counseling, developing treatment plans, and facilitating group therapy sessions to assist clients in their recovery journey.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients to determine their needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Provide one-on-one counseling sessions to clients addressing substance abuse issues and related mental health concerns.
• Facilitate group therapy sessions, utilizing evidence-based practices to promote recovery and coping strategies.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation and client records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care.
• Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary based on ongoing assessments.
• Participate in community outreach and prevention programs.
• Assist with orientation, case management, referrals, and discharge planning.
• Stay informed about current trends in substance abuse treatment and participate in ongoing professional development.

Requirements

• Credentialed addiction treatment professional approved to practice substance abuse counseling services by the Virginia Board of Health Professionals (i.e. CSAC). Supervision is available for CSAC or SW Supervisees.
• One to three years of experience in behavioral health settings, particularly with substance abuse counseling.
• Strong understanding of medical documentation practices and the management of medical records.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
• Familiarity with FQHC settings is a plus.

Pediatrician – Tazewell

The Pediatric staff physician works as part of the medical provider team providing medical services to the pediatric patients of SVCHS. In addition, staff physicians, unless specifically exempted by the CMO, shall be qualified to serve on the active medical staff of a local hospital, assume “on call” after hours responsibilities and supervise community health center PAs or NPs as appropriate.

Qualifications:

– Graduation from an accredited medical school with a MD or DO degree.

– Completed residency and Board Certification preferred.

– Licensed in VA.

– The ability to relate with warmth & effectiveness to patients and other health care providers of

SVCHS.

– Must be ACLS qualified.

– Ability and willingness to serve on the active medical staff of a hospital used by SVCHS.

Behavioral Health Supervisor – Meadowview

Duties:

Works as part of an integrated medical team of health professionals in a primary care setting. Provides individual and family brief and long term therapy for behaviors related to chronic health conditions as well as serious mental illnesses. Provides consultation to primary care providers regarding patients’ behavioral health to include screening, assessment, diagnosis and treatment recommendations. Telehealth and in person services with one work day from home. Supervises BH Care Manager.

Skills:

· Skills in evidenced based behavioral health assessment, treatment and crisis intervention.

· Ability to effectively communicate behavioral health issues with other treatment team members, patients, and families.

· Skill in preparing and maintaining patient records and to confidentially manage patient information.

Ability to use independent judgment.

Requirements:

· One (1) to three (3) years of experience in the health care setting.

· Licensed mental health practitioner certified to practice by the Virginia Board of Health Professionals (ie. LCSW, Psychologist, LPC. May consider Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology seeking licensure.)

· Excellent working knowledge of behavioral medicine and evidence based treatments for medical and mental health conditions.

· Must be qualified in Basic Life Support techniques and CPR.

Nurse Practitioner – New Day Recovery/Tazewell, VA

Job Overview:

The nurse practitioner works as part of the clinic provider team performing a variety of direct patient services including assessment, diagnosis, implementation of treatment, evaluation, and monitoring the general patient management plan for clinic patients. The nurse practitioner performs these functions under the general supervision of a licensed physician in a primary health care setting. This role provides services to the New Day Recovery program, which is an office-based addition treatment site. This includes MOUD/MAUD and PCP treatment as part of an integrated treatment team.

Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, a nurse practitioner program recognized by the Board of Nursing or from a program otherwise designated for Family Nurse Practitioners which has been approved by the state Board of Nursing.
• The ability to relate with effectiveness to the patients and other health care providers of SVCHS.
• Must be qualified in ACLS.
• Sufficient experience to carry out the duties of this position.

Peer Recovery Specialist (Saltville, Bristol)

The Peer Recovery Specialist’s role is to support others in recovery from a substance use disorder. The Peer Specialist will serve as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator to recovering individuals in order to help prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery. The Peer Specialist must demonstrate an ability to share personal recovery experiences, to instill hope, and to develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships. The Peer Recovery Specialist will serve as a member of the interdisciplinary New Day Recovery team and provide support to the peer recovery center. The CEO/Executive Director and the Governing Board reserve the right to adjust schedules and transfer any staff member within the organization, at any time for the benefit of our patients and the overall operations of Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems, Inc.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2 years of Healthy Recovery
• Valid driver’s license
• Acquired or in process of acquiring Certified Peer Specialist qualifications
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting
• Working knowledge of SUD and MH treatment.
• Demonstrate a commitment to recovery and the recovery community
• Computer experience and comfort with data entry and analysis
• Basic knowledge of mental health and substance abuse disorders
• Knowledge of community resources and referral processes.
• Ability to use independent judgment and manage confidential information.
